Let’s Gather and chat about How things work? Polity and Us: Plenty of coffee & snacks. Do join us January 21st after worship for an informal conversation led by Mick Comstock and Randy Purinton. The most important folks in the room, however, are YOU! We’d love to hear from you in this conversation.
Let’s meet as a congregation to reacquaint ourselves with our organizational structure–our ‘polity.’ That sounds pretty dry, but it’s just how things work. When we collectively know how things work it helps us explain it to others, like, for example, to a new minister (whether settled, interim, or bridge) and to our friends and townsfolk and visitors. Since we adopted our ‘polity’ decades ago, it has been challenging for our pastors to see how they fit into the picture. That makes it harder for them as they’ve had to figure it out for themselves.
During this time of searching, as we gather in faith and good intentions, it is our job to clarify that role. We haven’t had an opportunity to talk about it, clarify it and embrace who we are. Let’s do it.
Hope you can join us!
