Maundy Thursday Service

Event Details

In Latin “Maundy” comes from the words Deis Mandatum, which mean “the day of the new commandment.”  It was at the Passover supper on the same night that he was betrayed, that Jesus gave his commandment to “love one another as I have loved you.” After telling the Passover story, we will share the bread and cup of the Last Supper in the social room, sitting around a table lit with candles and adorned with spring flowers.  A Tenebrae service of readings and music will follow in the sanctuary, during which the lights will be gradually dimmed, and we will leave in silence.
