Signature Quilt Display

Event Details

An historical Signature Quilt will be available Sunday, August 25th through the magic of a gift to Rev. and Mrs. Aruth Simmons. Earlier this year we received a message from two women in Connecticut who collect antique quilts. They had acquired a signature quilt given to the Rev. and Mrs. Arthur Simmons for Christmas in 1939 “from their Charlemont Friends.” Rev. Simmons served at Charlemont Federated Church from 1931 to 1945. There are over 184 signatures on the quilt.

Our Connecticut friends made a special trip to share the beauty and history of this quilt with us and it will be displayed at church Sunday morning, August 25 after worship. Beautifully designed in soft, natural colors, it contains the names of those who signed the quilt and those names are also posted on the CFC bulletin board. You are sure to recognize many family names as well as the names of people you’ve known in years past.

Please join us on the 25th to celebrate the artistry and goodwill of those who worshiped here in days gone by.
