Standout for Racial Justice – May 25th

Event Details

An Invitation: we will be holding a SPECIAL VIGIL as part of regional Interfaith special action for racial justice on the 2nd anniversary of the death of George Floyd, Wednesday, May 25, from 4:30-5:30pm. It’s called a Standout for Racial Justice and our part of this will be held in front of Charlemont Federated Church May 25th at 4:30pm. Other vigils will be held on the roadsides of Routes 2 and 116 in Franklin County.

Our presence, with signs and media outreach, will honor victims of police violence and petition for racial justice. George Floyd’s death has been followed, sadly, by many others. It was his brutal murder, however, that opened a floodgate of outrage, demonstrations, deep reflection and new awareness worldwide.

This non-violent, inclusive roadside vigil will feature your signs and banners. They could honor victims of racial injustice or share other sentiments. You are invited to help share the message that racial injustice needs to end now.

The May 25th Standout is supported by: Traprock Center for Peace and Justice; Racial Justice Rising; Interfaith Council of Franklin County (ICFC); Franklin County Continuing the Political Revolution (FCCPR); Western Mass. CodePink; The Sunderland Human Rights Taskforce; Deerfield Inclusion Group; Long Line for Racial Justice, and, Moving Forward for Racial Healing.

We’ll be sharing additional information about this special vigil,Standout for Racial Justice, in our weekly CFC eNews. For additional information about this effort, please contact Kate Stevens.
