The Mission & Outreach Ministry encourages summer donations of items to make up Church World Service “Hygiene Kits.”
Donations of individual items or 1 gallon bag filled with the 9 items specified below will be accepted from June through August. Complete kits will be assembled at the beginning of September and taken to the CWS Center for distribution to places around the country and around the world. Extras will also be distributed through Good Neighbors and Franklin County programs assisting those in crisis, homeless, or released from prison. CWS kits deliver hope and dignity to families facing unimaginable challenges.
CWS Hygiene Kit
A small package that makes a meaningful difference.
Each kit includes everyday essentials—soap, towels, a toothbrush—offering comfort and care and a fresh start each day.
SUPPLIES NEEDED:
Pack these items into one 1-gallon resealable plastic bag.
- One washcloth
- One fingernail or toenail clipper (either is acceptable; remove from package)
- One bath-size bar of soap (in the original package)
- One toothbrush (in the original package)
- One travel-size deodorant stick (3.4 ounces or less, non-aerosol)
- One travel-size lotion (3.4 ounces or less, fragrance-free)
- One travel-size shampoo (3.4 ounces or less)
- One travel-size toothpaste (3.4 ounces or less, with an expiration date at least one year out)
- One sturdy wide-tooth comb (remove from package; must have at least 6 inches of teeth; pocket combs or picks not accepted; rattail combs and combs without handles are acceptable)
Hygiene Kits are invaluable when natural disasters or violent conflict force people suddenly from their homes, or for families fleeing Domestic Violence or families who have lost their housing (often caused by catastrophic illness and medical debt).
