Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of Lent. Please join us as we gather in a darkened sanctuary to pray, listen to scripture, and sing beautiful chants from the Taize community in France.
We will form a circle at the front of the church to burn dried palms from last year’s Palm Sunday service and use the ashes to mark each other’s foreheads, saying “From dust you are, and to dust you shall return,” in acknowledgement of our mortality.
We then leave in silence, our first step into a season of quiet contemplation.
